About The Public Safety Writers Association and How To Join
The Public
Safety Writers Association is open to writers of both fiction and non-fiction
who either are members of a public safety organization or who writer about
public safety issues. The organization is also open to illustrators,
photographers, cartoonists, editors and publishers. Both published and non
published writers are welcome.

booklet is intended to help writers explore the various available publishing
options, answering the all important questions:
(1) How much control you wish to
have over the publishing of your book
(2) How and when you wish to
receive the money your book will generate
(3) How soon you want your book to
be published
(4) How involved you wish to be in
the marketing of your book
This booklet is exclusively available to members of the
Public Safety Writers Association.
Writing Competition
All members of PSWA are eligible to enter an
annual writing competition. Entry requirements and an entry form are posted on

Manuscript Review
All new and renewing members may take advantage
of a one-time manuscript review by one of the association’s published authors.

Annual Conference
All members in good standing are invited to attend the PSWA
annual conference. Check
the “Conference” webpage for details on dates and place.
Membership Certificate
Each member of PSWA receives a formal
membership certificate which is suitable for framing. It is tangible evidence
that you are dedicated to sharing your talents and experiences with others
through the written word.
Publications Lists
We are now updating our list of publications in the public
safety field that accept submissions from free lance writers. This list will be
available to our members within 60 days. If you know of publications that
accept free lance work, please contact president@policewriter.com.
Networking
All members of PSWA are welcome to participate
in our website’s e-mail listserv, intended to provide networking opportunities for
members. Once your membership is established, send an
e-mail message to policewriter-subscribe@yahoogroups.com from the e-mail
address registered with the association.
The Corporate Sponsorship Program
PSWA is actively seeking corporate
sponsorship. Each corporate sponsor receives a free listing in our on-line
newsletter and the opportunity for exposure to its products and services at our
annual conference, including the opportunity to sponsor our annual writing
