portray his brother’s occupation as one of society’s most

“The special touch that
Scott gives to his splendid book gives the reader a wealth of
first person, on-the-scene true stories without sensationalizing.
Indeed, he has taken care to relate factual events with just the
right amount of graphic description that the reader can grasp the
immediate horror, without crossing the line.” Reserve

“Scott Fielden does an
excellent job of bringing the realities of police work to the
printed page…this is a good book.” LWC Books/The Rap

“The book gets in the
trenches and doesn’t try to beautify or glamorize what really
goes on behind the badge. While most books today are written
to sell volumes, Music City Blues is written to tell the truth.
It’s the next best thing to being there.” Southern
Lawman Magazine |

“Whether telling tales
of his brother, other officers or members of the public, Scott
Fielden weaves a variety of stories with both sadness and
humor…this book is the perfect book for anyone who just can’t
get enough.” The Rutherford Courier |

“Music City Blues is
one of the most interesting and captivating police books I have
ever read…a very accurate portrayal of police work from the eyes
of a street smart cop. For those individuals that really
want to live and respond to police calls from the safety of
their den, Music City Blues should appear at the top of the best
book list…the book somehow creates an atmosphere that you are on
the streets of Nashville answering police calls and thinking
‘what do I do next?’ Excellent reading, on a 1 to 10
scale, I rate Music City Blues a 12.” Police Chief Ron
Street, Johnson City TN Police Department |

“I had difficulty
putting it down…one of the most interesting books I have ever
read on the subject…I wish it had been longer.” Captain Lawrence Blydenburgh, Charlotte NC Police Department |

“MUSIC CITY BLUES”
Perhaps two of the most common questions police
officers are asked by those outside the profession are “why did you become a cop, and what’s
it like?
Answering
those questions is like trying to summarize the Bible with less than 100
words. It’s not easy.
Scott Fielden’s book, “Music City Blues”,
provides an in-depth look at what life behind the badge is really like.
From the grueling training academy through 20 years of patrolling
some of the meanest streets in Tennessee, “Music City Blues” focuses
on some of the most unusual and noteworthy experiences encompassing the
career of the author’s brother, Officer Mark Fielden (now a detective)
with the Metro Nashville TN Police Department.
Each chapter of the book concentrates on a separate
“slice of life” such as prostitution stings, domestic disputes,
high-speed pursuits and sadly, officers who gave their lives while wearing
the thin metal shield. The
stories illustrate why policework can be both gruesome and glorious, and
it’s these moments of soul-wrenching tragedies and fist-pumping triumphs
that comprise the book.
“Music City Blues” has received positive reviews
by a number of police departments for its accuracy in depicting the
realities of wearing a badge and gun for a living, and some agencies have
placed the book on their recommended reading list for those interested in
pursuing a career in law enforcement.
“The book gets in the trenches and doesn’t try to
beautify or glamorize what really goes on behind the badge.
While most books today are written to sell volumes, Music
City Blues is written to tell the truth…it’s the next best thing
to being there” writes Southern
Lawman Magazine. “It
gives a gripping account of an officer’s feelings and really makes you
think about what these incredibly brave (or crazy?) individuals go through
every day” comments The Business Journal.
“Music City Blues” is
available through most bookstores and Amazon.com for $11.95.
