Up

Richard L. Davis is a retired lieutenant from the Brockton, Massachusetts police department. He has an ALM from Harvard University, a graduate degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College and another in liberal arts with a concentration in history from Harvard University. He is a member of the International Honor Society of Historians. He is an instructor in criminal justice and domestic violence for Quincy College at Plymouth. He is the vice-president of the Community Center for Non-Violence in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He is the author of numerous articles for newspapers, journals, and magazines concerning the issue of domestic violence. He is a Domestic Violence Intervention and Programs Consultant specializing in criminal justice issues.  He lives in Plymouth, Massachusetts with his wife and two youngest children.

Richard's book, Domestic Violence: Facts and Fallacies, is the only academic monograph that is authored by and offered from the perspective of a career police officer.  A review from the police web site APBonline said "Davis' explanation of how court system boondoggles thwart efforts to deter spousal attacks is alone worth the price of the book. . .And Davis, street-smart and informed, is challenging us to update our laws to reflect that growing awareness." Davis is also an instructor for the Online Police Academy, and writes about domestic issues for NYCOP.com.
